Lansing, MI, May 11, 2011 -  The Michigan Physical Therapy Association (MPTA) hosted a successful Legislative Breakfast at Troppo Restaurant in Lansing, Michigan.

"Ingenious and great service!", Michael Shoemaker, PT, DPT, GCS said about the coordination done by AMR staff in the event marketing, prep work and running of the event logistics for a successful event.  "We have prepared our members with the facts. MPTA handouts helped our members communicate with their legislators with confidence. Our commitment to finally passing direct consumer access legislation has never been higher," said MPTA Legislative Director Mike Shoemaker, PT, DPT, GCS.

The event had record attedance and the audience heard from Representative Margaret O'Brien, R-61 Portage who is sponsoring HB 4603. Michigan is one of only four states that do not yet allow citizens to seek physical therapy treatment without a physician referral or prescription.
