The MANA Fall Conference was held October 7-9, 2011. Over 350 CRNAs attended the conference at Shanty Creek Resorts. Highlights of the event included a hands-on ultrasound session, the first MANA Biathlon sponsored by the MANA Wellness Committee, the first MANA College Bowl, and a special PAC event. Plus 14 CE credits! The attendees enjoyed the beautiful northern atmosphere.

The Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) held its 9th annual Diamond Awards Banquet on September 22, 2010, at The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Nearly 300 members and guests attended the event, designed to recognize excellence and innovation in associations.

More than 40 entries competed for top honors in ten categories, with the Michigan Joint Education Conference, managed by Association Management Resources (AMR) in Ann Arbor, taking the Diamond Award in a new category, “Innovative Collaboration”.

The Michigan Joint Education Group consists of five Michigan Educational groups (MACUL – Michigan Association of Computer Users in Learning, MAMSE – Michigan Association of Middle School Educators, MCSS – Michigan Council for the Social Studies, MCTM – Michigan Council for Teachers of Mathematics, and MSTA – The Michigan Science Teachers Association), who have worked together since 2007 to host a one-day, integrated joint conference between The Associations for K-12 educators.

Diamond Awards were given to associations that distinguished themselves in two budget categories (Under $1 million and over $1 million) within the following ten categories:  E-Newsletter, Government Relations, Innovative Collaboration, Magazine Publishing, Meetings & Expositions, Membership Development, Non-Dues Revenue (Affinity) Program, Print Newsletter, Public Relations Campaign, and Website.

MSAE has a membership of more than 1,000 association professionals and suppliers involved in the management of 400 international, national, state, regional and local associations.  It provides executives with the opportunity to exchange ideas, opinions, and experiences through discussion, study, and networking. The Michigan Physical Therapy Association received the Gold Honorable Mention Award at the 10th Annual Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE) Diamond Awards. The Diamond Awards recognize excellence and innovation in associations. MPTA entered the Meetings & Exposition, less than $1.5 Million category for their Student Conclave. Congratulations MPTA on this honorable recognition for your excellence!

The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) recognizes individuals who have achieved the industry's highest standard of professionalism. Rachel Hill-Mason and Alecia Powell recently received the Certified Meeting Professional designation. The requirements for certification are based on professional experience and written examination. Congratulations Rachel and Alecia!

Don’t leave your leadership capacity to chance. Take the steps to enhance the effectiveness of your key board volunteer leaders.
