Responsible for recommending and carrying out the initiatives of the Board of Directors of two not-for-profit professional associations in accordance with their strategic plans. Organizes, plans, directs and coordinates the staff, programs and activities of the Association to assure that objectives are attained, plans fulfilled, and member needs met. Maintains effective internal and external relationships. Maintains forward-looking programming that results in constructive growth of the Association.

The Executive Director is responsible for managing many aspects of the organization including:
• Strategic planning
• Board and committee support
• Financial management, including budgeting and reporting
• Marketing of membership services
• Membership development and growth
• Publications (writing)

• Demonstration of previous professional experience at increasingly higher levels of responsibility
• Financial management experience
• Excellent people skills, organizational, speaking and writing skills
• Working knowledge of database management, web management, and computerized accounting skills.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree; knowledge of the association management environment; Certified Association Executive (CAE) preferred

Experienced individual needed to join multi-client association management firm at its Ann Arbor, MI, location. Position includes managing all aspects of both state and national meetings and events.

Responsibilities include:

  • Event planning, design and production while managing all project delivery elements within time limits.
  • Act as liaison with clients to identify needs and to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Negotiate contracts with facilities and vendors
  • Develop and oversee event budgets
  • Secure sponsorships and exhibitors
  • Marketing and promotion of event
  • Organize both pre and on-site registration
  • Conduct event evaluations and report on outcomes

Skills: Requires excellent business, communication and technology skills. Travel required. Two-Three year’s previous experience as a meeting planner; Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) and CMP important/preferred. Please note: this position is located at our Ann Arbor, Michigan Office.
